Being based in Bideford, North Devon, we're lucky enough to be within easy access of the North Devon coastline. Locations such as Westward Ho! beach and Hartland are not far from our central location, then further round the coast the jagged cliff faces continue and you'll find the rolling hills by the sea and of course other popular beaches such as Woolacombe, Saunton and Croyde.
Also, as a part of Brend Hotels, The Royal Hotel is connected to our sister hotels throughout the South West of England - a region that's world famous for beautiful golden beaches, surfing competitions and plenty of natural beauty.
It's therefore important to everyone here in the hotel that we share this news article from Brend Hotels about the North Devon beach cleans of 2018.
In it they've taken a look at how the region is a designated Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty and also part of a Biosphere Reserve - and therefore needs to be protected.
It highlights that beach cleans happen regularly in North Devon, organised by wonderful people who care for the beautiful region. Now is a great time to get involved if you haven't done so before. There are several penciled in for the rest of the year at Saunton and Westward Ho! Plus we're sure more will be added.
Plus with the hard work of wonderful charities such as Surfers Against Sewage and the 2 Minute Beach Clean, we can all help to remove rubbish and plastic from our beaches. Infact, Surfers Against Sewage are again running their Big Spring Clean week nationwide in April to help maintain the high standard of British beaches.
We therefore invite all our guest and friends to get involved however you can. If we all did a two minute beach clean everytime we visited the beach we can make North Devon a leading example for cleaning up plastic and rubbish from our shores.
